Adhering to social norm, and
obligated duty at the ball
I ask Your Majesty for a dance
and you gracefully extend a hand
Then we step, spin, and sway
as eyes behold in awe
But, who am I in late e’en
to command the silence of a queen
Laying motionless in the cuverie
as I savor the cΓ΄tes
rousing deep breath and sigh
And I, not befittingly
command a vineyard of floral unfold
The sun riseth not, but heat is known
as lord of land tends each blossom
and shall forsake none
Who am I to drink as a noble
and taketh of fruit divine
Thy hands remove a canopy
which adorned all I aspire
Seized and raised to mouth
Engaging in gluttonous frolic
as the queen declares ‘halt not!’
I shalt not forbid thee
a request for royal execution
Assign thy sacrifice as mine
Descend on my dagger
and raise with calm retreat
Exhaustive love for loss of life
conquers and consumes thine eyes
Mine end too, be not untimely
as harvest comes to pass
Rims of the barriques break!
I decant into your grasp
and a peasant dons a crown

Thanks much Debbie. This one was obviously unique in comparison to my previous writings, but I loved writing it. Maybe I’ll splurge in celebration and have a glass of wine tonight π

Your sovereign pen evoked a male-blush in me with such words, dear princess of eastern shores. So graceful of thine and the honor be mine. π
Thanks Shian. I’m not bragging, but the part I really love of my poem is simply “as the queen declares βhalt not!β”
It’s the first time I read my own words and laugh every time I read it. I don’t know; just imagining the setting or something. Uhhh….

Oh Scott, you made me blush… I get what you write. Sometimes within the moment you write and not think of it, but whenever you look back you are amazed, blown away or just laugh.
It’s almost Friday. Yay!

thanks so much! Do I ever perform it? I want to say no, but behind closed doors or on evening shores, perhaps I have! π Seriously though, no, I wouldn’t even know how to pursue doing so for an audience or something. I just find great satisfaction in pouring out here in the blog

Muchas thanks Toya! I was imagining it as kinda Shakespearish, and also a weekend stay at an estate in our wine region here that I’ve been yearning to do. Hopefully this spring…
No, I never published a compilation yet, but I’ve been considering doing it as a free eBook soon.
Have a great weekend!

This poem is rather exotic. I can not decide if it is about sex or a lustrious walk in the garden. lol I love it though! My mind tends to wander towards the gutter first then branches out to other ideas once I have conformation. Hehe

Hey Lauren. I’m much later with my reply lol. Sometimes I could swear I replied but then see I didn’t when I return. Thanks for the compliment! I had fun writing it. As I mentioned to Shian, I’m still laughing each time I read that the queen declares “halt not!” hahahha. I’m crazy. Have a great week my friend
