I’m always hearing music
so I must be listening too close
Seeking answers in the lyrics
Adhering to every word spoke
It’s said that insanity is surely defined
Doing the same thing over and over again
I always find myself wanting to go back
and again, I find the means to an end
If I tried to run away
there would be a repeated proof
The asylum is ineludible
and I’m clearly crazy for you
Trying every method to remove
what the conductor put in me
Binding strings of a puppet master
inspired to play this symphony
The end of days may not come soon
but someday, in that palace of the sky
I’ll look in the directory
for the one with celestial eyes
I’ll ask for only five minutes
I’ll try to explain in the short time
All I was never able to find words for
in the world of yours and mine
Love for only giving, could have been
but, was too often unforgiving
Broken hearts simply tried to survive
but, life without you was not living
There was no peace where there was pride
and I’m not looking for alibies
But always found myself asking why
even apart, your happiness was mine
We promised it’s unconditional
but didn’t survive dark times
Silence as our backs turned
to conceal the cries
Two things I’m sure I surely knew for sure
as I waited for a shooting star in the sky
What I gave to you is always yours
Till the end of time, this love abides

Interesting style, a bit choppy at first (I think intended that way) lets for a smoother read later on. I like the concept- Mental illness is a field of study I am currently in; Being that I worked in a hospital on the MI&addiction floor, I know that it is no joke. You relate your love to feeling lost and in a daze. Love is crazy. Wonderful, I like the subtle conflict in religion I see here. Spirit and mind it is a crazy thing to venture through one does need love to find ones path in either direction. Great poem.

Thank you sir. I’m truly honored that you saw into the poem that deeply and for your comment. I agree with all you say. For some reason as I read your comment I was remembering some things from one of Eckhart Tolle’s book “A New Earth.” One thing I’ll never forget is when he saw someone with an apparent mental disorder talking to herself, etc. and then… “As I was washing my hands, I thought: I hope I donโt end up like her. The man next to me looked briefly in my direction, and I suddenly was shocked when I realized that I hadnโt just thought those words, but mumbled them aloud. โOh my God, Iโm already like herโ

Sanity being an opinion is interesting that would change the way institutions work. It would be a choice to be out of your mind. Maybe… In some instances. As long as no one were being harmed physically I could see it being an opinion we could accept. ha-ha. Really interesting conversation Scott. I want to check that book out now. Hope to see more from ya ๐

very powerful pulling of how love often goes on a journey, then only to fine it never goes anywhere at all. Lovely piece Scott.

Thanks so much for the comment! True what you say. I’m leaving on a journey tomorrow morning myself, but am I going somewhere? We’ll see…
Full tank of gas
the bags are packed
Dark highways never end
In my hand, a ticket grasped
as if my best friend
In eight, I rest
Eighteen I fly
Twenty four I land
with tired eyes
Is it the past
that’s haunting me
Or a future hope
that I can’t see
While in the air
I’ll be looking down
At what’s not there
what has no sound
While between blue sky
and blue mountain tops
I’ll be lost in plight
as my heart drops
Travelling too much
stuck in routines
With my Tiger’s hat
and worn out jeans
Just trying to find
what this life means
Getting hard to sleep
with squandered dreams
Was it not enough
to give a soul to a star
Now it exists
anywhere you are

Wonderful! Let’s hope the narrator can express his desires in those five minutes – though I believe a single look into his or her eyes will suffice.
